Godzilla’s formidable strength has been showcased on the big screen in various film projects, most recently in Godzilla Minus One and Godzilla vs. Kong. The fearsome nature of Godzilla has even been depicted in DC comics, where the colossal creature achieves what few villains can: defeating Superman.

Placed in the DC universe, Godzilla clashed with the Man of Steel, showcasing its terrifying strength and the formidable weapon that is its atomic breath. Superman finds himself in a precarious situation, facing a life-threatening danger comparable to the consequences he endured in his previous encounter with Doomsday.

Specifically, in the comic series “Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong” by Brian Buccellato and Christian Duce, Toyman employs the Dreamstone to summon Titans from the Monsterverse universe, wreaking havoc on iconic locations like Themyscira and Gotham City. Metropolis, unfortunately, bears the brunt of Godzilla’s destructive power, forcing Superman to intervene and protect his city. Despite teaming up with Hawkgirl and Shazam to confront Godzilla, Superman seems to be at a disadvantage. In an attempt to shield Billy Batson, Superman absorbs the full force of Godzilla’s atomic breath, leaving him completely incapacitated with radiation burns covering his body.

For long-time Superman fans, this isn’t the first time the Man of Steel has been defeated by a giant monster to the point of incapacitation. Previously, Superman sacrificed himself to halt the devastation caused by Doomsday. However, this time around, it appears that Superman underestimated the formidable nature of Godzilla’s atomic breath. Perhaps even Superman couldn’t anticipate the sheer ferocity and danger of this attack.

In the recent release of “Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #4,” Superman receives specialized medical care even though his heartbeat has completely stopped. However, it’s almost certain that Superman will be revived following this severe setback, similar to his resurrection after facing Doomsday. The lingering question now is, upon his return, can Superman overcome Godzilla in their impending rematch?

After this significant defeat, Superman may have gained a newfound understanding of Godzilla’s immense power. Similar to the battle with Doomsday, besides relying on his superpowers, what Superman needs is a well-thought-out strategy and the support of his closest allies. At this moment, key members of the Justice League, including the strategic minds of Batman and the strength of Wonder Woman, have gathered in Metropolis. They might bring hope for Superman to triumph in the upcoming rematch against Godzilla.
