Beverley staunchly defended his coach after Redick delivered a scathing critique of Doc amidst the Bucks’ struggles under his leadership.

It’s worth noting that Milwaukee parted ways with its first-year coach after a 30-13 start, citing concerns with Rivers’ management of the defense. Despite an improvement in defensive efficiency under Doc, the Bucks have faced losses, going 3-7 in their last 10 games.

On Tuesday morning’s First Take, Redick slammed Rivers for his recent comments questioning his team’s focus, accusing some players of being mentally “in Cabo” and failing to hold himself accountable for the team’s downturn.

“Doc, we understand. Taking over a team mid-season is tough… just like being traded mid-season is tough for a player. But it’s always an excuse. It’s always throwing your team under the bus,” Redick remarked.

He continued, criticizing Doc’s recent remarks taking credit for the James Harden trade to the Clippers. “He wants credit for that? There’s never accountability with that guy,” Redick asserted.

Patrick Beverley, who joined the Bucks before the trade deadline, caught wind of Redick’s comments and came to his coach’s defense.

Notably, Redick previously played under Rivers as part of the Los Angeles Clippers from 2013 to 2017.

Beverley called out Redick for failing to acknowledge Rivers’ role in revitalizing his NBA career. “This man, Doc, actually resurrected your career,” Beverley shot back on social media. “He started you when no one else wanted to. And you retire, go on TV, and say that, @jj_redick.”

Instead of resolving the matter privately, Redick opted to respond publicly, echoing Beverley’s sentiments. “Pat, my man, I had a four-year offer with a player option for the same money to start for a different team. ‘Saved my career,’ my foot,” Redick retorted.
