Leading the nominations this year was the female vocalist SZA with 9 nominations, followed by names like Victoria Monét, Phoebe Bridgers, and Serban Ghenea with 7 nominations each. Monét’s 2-year-old daughter, Hazel, became the youngest artist ever nominated in Grammy history for her collaboration with her mother on a song nominated in the Best Traditional R&B Performance category.

Among the winners, Victoria Monét took home the “Best New Artist” award. In her acceptance speech, she spoke about her perseverance in Hollywood: “I want people to see me as a testament. This award is 15 years of pursuit.” Monét, at 35, is an independent artist who has collaborated extensively with Ariana Grande. Last year, she released notable songs like “Smoke,” “On My Mama,” and “Party Girls.”

Next, the singer SZA won the award for “Best R&B Song” for her song “Snooze.” This hit from the R&B music star topped the Billboard charts for 12 consecutive weeks. In her acceptance speech, she said, “People can’t understand, I’ve really come a long way.” This marks SZA’s third win in the Best R&B Song category. Previously, she won “Best Contemporary R&B Album” for “SOS” and “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” for the song “Ghost in the Machine,” sung with Phoebe Bridgers.

It came as no surprise when the “Pop Queen” Taylor Swift won the Grammy for “Best Pop Vocal Album” and “Album of the Year” with “Midnights.” In her acceptance speech for Best Pop Vocal Album, Taylor revealed that this was her 13th Grammy in her career. Additionally, she announced the release of her new album titled “The Tortured Poets Department” on April 19th.

The Grammy Awards this year also witnessed the strong rise of Miley Cyrus with the song “Flowers.” The singer received two awards for “Best Pop Solo Performance” and “Record of the Year.”

However, the Grammy 2024 also faced some unexpected mishaps. Before the ceremony, the Recording Academy mistakenly announced the winners on social media, but later corrected it.

Overall, the Grammy Awards this year celebrated the success of women in the music industry, with many female artists nominated in prestigious categories and winning awards.
