Jordan Spieth Disqualified from 2024 Genesis Invitational Due to Scorecard Error

In the 2024 Genesis Invitational, Jordan Spieth found himself disqualified from the tournament after committing a crucial error in Round 2. His disqualification stemmed from signing an incorrect scorecard, mistakenly recording a par (3) on the par-3 4th hole instead of the actual bogey (4) he made, as reported by the PGA Tour. This unfortunate turn of events marked Spieth’s first absence from a weekend competition since the 2023 Scottish Open.

In a statement shared on social media, Spieth took full accountability for the oversight, expressing his disappointment at the situation. Despite his strong start to the tournament, where he recorded six birdies in his opening 11 holes and posted an impressive first-round 66 alongside leader Patrick Cantlay, Spieth’s second round encountered hurdles.

Although he managed an early birdie on the par-5 1st hole, the misstep on the par-3 4th, which led to the incorrect scorecard, disrupted his momentum. Spieth’s resilience shone through with a chip-in birdie on the par-4 7th, bringing him to 2 under at the turn. However, the back nine presented challenges, resulting in three bogeys within the first six holes.

Despite a late birdie on the par-5 17th, Spieth’s round concluded with a disappointing double bogey on the 18th, ultimately leading to a 2-over 73. Before his disqualification, Spieth stood at 3 under and shared the 20th position on the leaderboard, highlighting the unfortunate turn of events that abruptly ended his tournament journey.
