Jordan doesn’t need to force himself to attend events he doesn’t want to, as money is not an issue for him. A prime example is how Jordan turned down an event with a $100 million payout for a 2-hour appearance.

Michael Jordan Legendary Declines $100 Million Event Invitation The story was recounted by David Falk, Jordan’s representative. Speaking to WFAN, Falk said, “A few years ago, Jordan turned down a golf event invitation while he was in Asia to play a preseason game with the Charlotte Hornets. A woman in the Philippines offered me $7 million to invite Jordan to attend a golf tournament for one day, but he declined. Even three years ago, I received an offer worth $100 million. All they wanted was to use his name and have him appear at a launch event for about 2 hours. But Jordan didn’t accept it.”

Jordan is an icon transcending basketball, recognized as one of the greatest and most famous athletes in history. He is an idol for many generations worldwide. Therefore, inviting Jordan to events is an excellent opportunity to promote brands.

Hence, many businesses spare no expense to invite the basketball king to attend various events, but not everyone gets Jordan’s nod. Finances are not a concern for Jordan; according to Front Office Sports, Jordan earned $256 million from Nike alone in 2022.
