Over the weekend, Usher had a conversation on “The Breakfast Club” radio show. A clip of the conversation was posted on Instagram last Friday. In this conversation, the 45-year-old American superstar talked about why Justin Bieber did not join his special performance at the Super Bowl 2024 Halftime Show.

“You know, things weren’t smooth sailing with Justin,” Usher said. “I honor and acknowledge that, my brother… I think realistically, he just wants to tell a different story right now, and I understand that.”

Usher acted as a mentor to Bieber when the singer was a teenager starting out in the music industry in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Usher mentioned that he had “a brief conversation” with Justin, and they decided to collaborate “in the future.”

Usher also expressed confidence that one day Justin Bieber will perform at the Super Bowl championship game.

According to Forbes, the Super Bowl 2024 Halftime Show – a program featuring many stars – was broadcast to 30.1 million households, and this year’s show surpassed last year’s concert featuring Rihanna.

Usher’s recent interview confirmed earlier reports by Page Six that Bieber did not take the stage with Usher simply because it didn’t excite Justin, rather than the two having personal conflicts.
