However, Mokbel’s report also reveals that Lingard wasn’t overlooked by European clubs before making the move to Asia. In fact, some mid-tier teams like Lazio had approached Lingard to negotiate a free transfer.

“I’ve tried to gather information related to Lingard’s situation. The signing of Lingard by FC Seoul is real, and the deal will last for 2 years,” said the journalist.

Lingard has received 26 different offers from around the world, including some from European clubs. While Seoul is a fantastic city, it will be a long flight if he wants to visit his family on some occasion.”

Following Mokbel’s announcement, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the news.

With Mokbel’s revelations, Lingard’s decision to choose a Korean club has caught many by surprise. Despite not being at the peak of his career, Lingard’s skills are still suitable for many European clubs. Previously, Lingard had trained with West Ham United and Al-Ettifaq after becoming a free agent.

In the 2022/23 season, Jesse Lingard made 20 appearances for Nottingham Forest, scoring 2 goals. The 1992-born player is a product of Manchester United’s academy and has scored 20 goals in 149 appearances for the Red Devils.
